This type of visa is intended for those who come to Russia for business purposes like exploring the business opportunities in Russia, establishing business contacts, etc. But since this type of visa allows longer stays, multiple entries and other beneficiaries, it can also be used by ordinary travelers, who need more flexibility.

A business Russian visa can be issued for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months, and be either single-, double- or multiple entry. It takes approximately the same time for the consulate to issue this kind of visa as for a tourist visa, but a business visa is slightly more expensive.

For a business visa, you will need a business invitation, issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Your data can be submitted to the MFA either by a business registered in the MFA or a travel agency. This is how an MFA invitation looks (sample):

To obtain a business visa, you will need to submit the following documents to the Consulate:

1. A completed Russian visa application form (one per person) - either for US citizens or for the rest of the world countries

2. National passport (original) valid for at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from Russia.

3. Three identical professional passport sized (3x4 cm) photos on a white background. Pictures can be black-and-white or color, preferably on matt paper. Please write your name in capital letters on the back of the photos. One photo should be stapled to the specially marked place of the application form.

4. A letter of invitation from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or its Regional Representative Offices, or from an authorized Russian host organization (We provide).

5. An HIV test certificate is required for visas valid for more than 3 months.

6. Visa application charge.
